Starting a new blog is always exciting and to be very frank, bit difficult also. For a newbie, it is difficult to make him accustomed to fast pace of the blogging world and in this cur throat competition; it is very much possible that you lose the race before you even start. A new blogger needs write advice to grow so that his blog could be a big success in the future.
This is my third blog and now I know what a blogger needs to know when he starts from square one. When I started this blog, I knew what steps need to be taken to ensure right growth of the blog. And, although the results have not been something mind-blowing because of less time I put into it, after 5 months, they are much better if compared with previous blogs at the same stage.
So, I make this post available to all those new bloggers looking for some tips. Below are the advices for the new bloggers, still finding their feet in blogosphere.
-
Don’t commit to write daily-
As a new blogger, you are (over)enthusiastic. You have lots of ideas and itching to go. And surely, in the initial days, it is easy for you to take out time for blogging activities. But once the blog start growing, the same amount of time won’t be enough. You will spend more time in stuff like promoting, social media and networking and generating ideas for posts and then writing them would become difficult. The initial one-post-a-day will become one-post-a-week. So, it is better you plan things from the day 1, keeping in mind the progress you will make in due course of time. Changing the strategy in between is never considered good. -
Find a blogging idol/ friend-
I believe this is important for a new blogger. Find two bloggers- one from whom you take inspiration and he is your blogging idol; the second who is a new blogger like you and write in the same niche. He will be your blogging friend. The idol will keep inspiring you from time to time with his success stories and efforts. With a blogging friend, you can multiply your efforts into bigger results using each other’s blog’s reach and exposure. I have found a blogging friend in Kelvin and honestly, he is more than a friend. -
Limit your learning-
Although, we are always taught to absorb whatever learning and knowledge is available; in blogosphere, we have to be a smart-worker than hard-worker. Of course, turning your head against the outside learning will be a foolish thing to do; you should make sure that you do not over flow your learning. You do not need to learn and practice everything. On the contrary, you need to do some hard work in knowing the kind of blogger you are and what you need to learn specifically and then, master those practices. Make a content funnel, social media strategy and promotion channel in a planned way and you will leave many people behind in this blogosphere’s race to success. -
Promote religiously-
There is no benefit of starting a blog if you are not promoting it. You need to get visitors to your blog. And the numbers does not only matter. Important is that you bring targeted traffic to your blog i.e. visitors who are interested in your content. This is an exercise that requires hard work in the initial stages of the blogging career. Once your blog is established, traffic will keep coming. You also have to make sure you learn at least the basic SEO tricks so that Google could send traffic to your blog. On referral traffic, you can not build a blogging empire. -
Never compromise with content-
Whatever heights you reach in your blog, never ever underestimate the importance of the content. If that goes wrong, there is no use of bringing 100’s of targeted visitors to your blog. Always give your best shot while writing content. Make it well researched, support the facts with the numbers and results and garnish it with images whenever possible. Although the golden rule, CONTENT IS KING is fading away in this era, believe in one thing- you bring visitors to your blog only for the first time, the next time they will come back only if they find their content worth reading. -
Make money the last priority-
There are many bloggers who have started blogging because of the money they are seeing in other blogger’s PayPal account. Well, that is not impossible but it is important that you also consider the fact that they have made huge efforts in reaching this point and it has took them a good amount of time. And the most important part is that they have never emphasized in making money. You will never make money if your primary motive is that. The main aim of the blog should be helping out others and knowledge sharing. Money should be the last priority and if you keep first two things right, money will flow automatically. -
Make social media an asset-
If you are not on social media, you are not going to be successful. Take your blog to FaceBook, Twitter and other platforms and devise a strategy that will help you gain maximum exposure from your blog. There is already a lot written on how to make best use of social media for blog promotion and a Google search will be very handy. To survive in today’s blogging era, your presence in these social networks is a mandatory requirement. And with some tweaks and innovations, FaceBook and Twitter can be a very good and consistent source of traffic for your blog.
Starting a new blog from scratch is very exciting and if this is your first time, I very much know that how you must be feeling. I know that feeling very well. I would love to hear from you how these tips help you and if you are using some other practices to become a better blogger, please share with us below so that new bloggers can benefit with this guide.
ACTION POINTS
If you are a new blogger, then
–find a blogging friend/ blogging idol.
–make a plan for your blog keeping in mind the long term.
–make yourself available over social networks and promote your blog.
–strive to write the best content possible.
For a newbie bloggers, writing in daily basis may be good but not necessary unless you’re good in writing and have tons of topic idea, or you have more than 12 hours on blogging a day. Bear in mind that quality always beyond quantity, write 3 really quality posts per week is better than 7 normal posts per week.
Another tips for newbie bloggers will be never place ads on a new baby blog, it doesn’t earn you even a cent because you have zero traffic, and it may drive your readers off your site.
Just keep writing and interacting with readers, it will lead to success in short period, and money will follow in the end.
I read in some blog that every noob blogger should plan out posts for at least one month before they publish the first post. I personally think, that is a very valuable tip that can be given to any newbie.
Good post.

Yea Vivek… That is really a tip I give to everyone willing to start a blog… It helps you to keep posting even when you run out of ideas the first few weeks of starting your blog. It really helped me when I started mine.
Yes, I do think that for ‘Kick-Starting’ your Blog that can be a good idea be able to create some sort of Consistancy for starting your Blog.
Those are all great advice for Newbie Bloggers.
Also the idea to - not - commit to writing daily is something that I think is a good thing,
Because I do think that when you write only because of your schedule, chances are that your writing might not alway’s be that Inspired.
