One of the first programs that I learned about when I was trying to use a large file was the WinZip program. This program is used to compress a big file as well as to extract that file if it is already compressed. You can also archive a large file or a group of files into what is known as a zipped file. This is one of the best ways to get a group of files from one location to another.
There are a lot of other programs that will fulfill these same requirements, but there are a couple of other programs that are commonly referred to when trying to zip, unzip or archive files. These other programs are called WinRAR and 7-Zip.
WinZip has been available on various software platforms for many years. You could us it on Windows as well as OS X and also on iOS. This is now also available for Android devices. If you make a visit at the Google Play Store, you will see other apps that will handle your files, but this is probably the most well-known app and will definitely be a welcome addition for Android users.
You will be able to extract your files as well as save your .zip files onto any of your Android devices. There is a built-in viewer support, so you will be able to preview some of your most familiar file types. These include your .txt, .bat, .js, .xml and .css to name just a few.
This version will cost you nothing as it is free to download. Well supported on any platform, you will find that it is compatible for many versions of Android, even including version 2.1 (Eclair), and 2.2 (Froyo). So if you need to extract zipped files or want to compress a bunch of files on your Android device, go ahead and Download WinZip for Android [Google Play link].
