For many iPhone users, the old standby jailbreak tool was the Redsn0w tweak. There have been numerous other jailbreak tweaks created by various developers, but the iPhone developers always come back to the old standby with various iterations to help their users jailbreak into their devices.
With the iterations have come updates as well as bug fixes. Well there is a new iteration that is now available. The 0.9.12b1 version makes use of Absinthe’s Jailbreak 5.1.1 untethered. There don’t appear to be any bugs as of yet, however due to limited capabilities, the full effects haven’t been available to the user until this point.
If your device is already jailbroken, you may not need this tool unless you have a new device to jailbreak. If you have been waiting your turn for a tweak like this, then now you are in luck as the Redsn0w tweak has been updated and also brings support for the 5.1.1 untethered version. Below you will see the step-by-step guide on how to jailbreak your iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS (3rd Generation), iPad 2, iPad 1, iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G and Apple TV 2G.
Step 1. Connect your device to your computer and then run the latest version of Redsn0w (download links OS X, Windows).
Step 2. After you have run the latest version of Redsn0w, then click the Jailbreak button, select Cydia and the Redsn0w tweak will go to work.
Step 3. Next you will reboot your device and when it comes back up, you will see a Cydia icon on the home screen.
This tweak is fairly easy to use. You don’t have to stop there. With the device jailbroken, you can add repositories, and find some of the neatest tweaks that Cydia has to offer you. A couple of tweaks that come highly recommended are the SBSettings and Springtomize2.
